Week in Tech #6 – July 14, 2025
Agentic AI Breakthroughs, Revolutionary Code Generation, and Strategic Cloud Investments
This week's main focus: Microsoft's major enhancements in agentic AI, Apple's groundbreaking approach to code generation, the rise of AI-integrated browsers, and significant cloud investments from Amazon and Azure.

Executive Summary
This week delivered key advancements in the AI and cloud technology sectors. Microsoft previewed the integration of the Model Context Protocol (MCP) within Azure AI Foundry, streamlining agent development and enabling seamless AI-agent interoperability. Complementing this, Azure also announced Deep Research, enhancing agent capabilities to automate complex web-scale research.
Apple introduced DiffuCode-7B-cpGRPO, a diffusion-based, non-linear code generation model that mimics human-like iterative code refinements, suggesting a significant shift in AI-assisted development methodologies. Meanwhile, Perplexity AI entered the competitive browser market with Comet, an AI-powered browser aimed at transforming online research and shopping experiences.
Amazon strengthened its cloud offerings by launching the EC2 P6e-GB200 UltraServers, delivering unprecedented GPU performance ideal for heavy AI workloads. Simultaneously, Amazon is reportedly planning another strategic investment in Anthropic, reinforcing its commitment to AI capabilities.
This was a big surprise for me Google Cloud’s partnership with Formula-E highlighted the intersection of cloud computing and high-performance sports, underscoring the diverse applications of cloud technology. I have feeling that this is not a last Google word we will see.
Finally, Microsoft's introduction of Phi-4-mini-flash-reasoning brought substantial performance improvements to math and logic-intensive applications, further demonstrating AI's evolving capabilities.
Future Predictions
1. Expansion of Agentic AI Ecosystems
The adoption of open protocols like MCP and advanced offerings like Deep Research will rapidly expand agentic AI ecosystems, profoundly impacting enterprise workflows and automation. We will see more and more integrations between currently separated toolsets and ecosystems.
2. Shift Towards Non-Linear Code Generation
Apple’s DiffuCode could redefine the future of AI-assisted development, moving towards more human-like, iterative approaches to programming.
3. AI-Powered Browsers Become Mainstream
Agentic Browsers embedded with advanced AI capabilities, such as Perplexity's Comet, may soon become standard, transforming user interaction and redefining digital productivity.
4. Cloud Investments Fuel AI Growth
Strategic investments by cloud providers like Amazon and Azure will accelerate AI adoption, positioning cloud infrastructure as the critical foundation for next-generation AI solutions.
